Adult Dog Walk – Northampton

The Dog Walk is ON this Saturday!

More than just a dog walk, ‘Adult Dog Walk – Northampton’ combines the benefits of the group dog walk with a variety of exercises to encourage positive canine socialisation. The combination of physical exercise and mental stimulation can benefit many dogs. Since the first group dog walk back in 2011 the ‘Adult Dog Walk – Northampton’  has now grown to become the largest group dog walk held weekly in the UK with an average of 50 to 70 dogs in attendance each week.  Inspired by this, ‘Puppy Walk & Train’ was also created and now attracts an average of 15 to 25 pups each week.

Who is the dog walk for? All dogs older than 8 months are welcome.  Many of the dogs and people that attend have no real issues, they just enjoy walking as part of a social group and value the ongoing socialisation that it provides.  They also appreciate the excess energy that this walk will help to drain from their dog. (Many dogs sleep right through until the evening walk!) With many of the clients that I work with on 1-2-1 behavioural consultations, joining the walk is a beneficial tool to help their dogs make continued progress.  It’s so good to see these dogs improving week after week.  If the owners need any more advice then it’s an ideal time to talk to me.  The vast majority of dogs attending the walk settle in very quickly, this is due to the calm manner in which the walk is carried out.  All dogs are kept on lead during the walk and there is no pressure to take part in any of the exercises if you feel that you or your dog are not ready for them.  The walk is a great addition to the regular dog training class with the added benefits provided by the wonderful surroundings of Bradlaugh Fields with it’s abundance of natural distractions. There is no charge at all for the walk.  If you wish to make a contribution, donations to Animals In Need will be very gratefully received via the Just Giving page or by texting NWDB99 £(your amount) to 70070 .  Donations can also be made in person at the walks. Just £1 per week from everyone joining my walks could raise over £3500 per year for the charity!

If your dog is highly nervous, reactive or shows signs of aggression toward other people or dogs, please contact me before joining the walk so that I can advise you on the best course of action.
